Brother Travis Alltop is the pastor of Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church having accepted the call to the pastorate here in December 2007. Pastor Alltop was saved in the fall of 1982 when he called on the Lord Jesus Christ to be his Savior at a small Baptist church in Grafton, OH. He was later called to preach at the age of 30 after having submitted himself to the service of his Lord and Saviour just three years prior. Brother Alltop trained under Pastor Ron Ralph and was ordained by and sent out of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carthage, TN. His Biblical studies were conducted in the Cornerstone Bible Institute. Pastor Alltop gained experience for the ministry by preaching in nursing homes, county jails, detention centers, on street corners, and through pulpit fills in many churches before being called to oversee and lead Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church in Danville, Kentucky. Preacher Alltop currently resides in Stanford, KY with his lovely wife, Heather along with children Hudson, Emily, Harrison and Hamilton.

Our History

Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church was organized and started in September of 1999 through the efforts of Dr. Jeff Fugate, Pastor Don Drake and founding Pastor Tim Russ. The church began under a tent. A church building was erected on several acres that the Horn family of Danville donated for this purpose.

Pastor Russ relocated to Owensboro, KY in 2005 to Greater Vision Baptist Church and Brother John Seay held the office of pastor at Bluegrass Pike until July 2007.

Our Beliefs

The following is a quick summation of our doctrinal positions. However, a doctrinal statement is more than simply information. We believe there should be a practical application of the information because if what one believes does not bring their behavior into conformity with Jesus Christ and true charity, then it doesn't matter how "right" the doctrinal position is. We intend to maintain the balance that exists between doctrine and duty.

"TRUTH WITHOUT CHARITY IS BRUTALITY. CHARITY WITHOUT TRUTH IS HYPOCRISY." -unknown

  • Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ to be God manifest in the flesh, virgin born, without sin, crucified, risen and coming in the clouds for his church and soon after coming back to earth to establish his kingdom. 1 Tim. 3:16; Matt. 1:18-25; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; John 14:1-6; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Luke 1:31-33; Revelation 11:15; 19:11-16

  • The Trinity

God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is known as the Godhead in scripture. Gen. 1:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:16; Acts 5:3-5; 1 John 5:7.

  • Scripture

We believe all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is found perfectly preserved today in the Authorized Version King James Bible. This Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Psalm 12:6-7; 2 Timothy 3:16

  • Man

We believe all men are sinners and that sin and death entered this world through the first man, Adam. Genesis 3; Romans 3:10-23; 5:12.

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again on the third day.

  • Baptism

We believe water baptism is by immersion after a genuine profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is representative of a death, burial and resurrection and is administered to believers only. Acts 8:36-38; 10:47-48

  • Eternal Security

We believe the born again child of God is eternally secure in Christ and is baptized, indwelt, regenerated, comforted and sealed by the Holy Ghost until the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:12-13; 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 12:13; John 14:16-17, 26; Titus 3:5; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:38-39

  • Holiness

We believe one of the great purposes of regeneration is to make believers more and more conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe Christians should present their bodies to God and walk according to the Spirit, not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. Romans 12:1-2 Galatians 5:16. This sanctification/holiness is an ongoing process of growth.

  • Eternity - Hell

We believe in a literal, burning, hell as described plainly in the Bible. Luke 16:19-31; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 20:11-15

  • Eternity - Heaven

We believe in a literal, paradise known as heaven where the saints of all ages reside with God. John 14:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Revelation 21:1-5

  • Witnessing

    We believe it is a Christian’s responsibility to witness and proclaim the gospel of the grace of God to the world through personal and public testimony, gospel tracts and support of local and foreign missions. Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20;

  • Dispensations

We believe the scriptures are to be rightly divided; therefore, we are dispensationalists. While all scripture is profitable, there are divinely ordered dispensations which must be notated through prayerful and careful Bible study in order to avoid doctrinal heresy. We are not hyper-dispensational, which is a heresy of its own. 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17

  • Independence (as a Church)

We are independent. This means our local assembly is self-governing and is not connected to a denominational headquarters or convention. The Pastor is the overseer and church leadership is to be male. 1 Peter 5:1-4; 1 Timothy 3:1-14; Acts 6:1-6; Hebrews 13:7, 17

Our Ministries

MASTER CLUBS

Our Wednesday evening program for children (ages 4-12) is an exciting time of Bible teaching, activities and games. The program is heavy on Bible memorization and the young ones are encouraged to grow in the faith. See www.masterclubs.org.

THE “SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES” RADIO BROADCAST

Tune in to a 30 minute Bible lesson with Pastor Alltop each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. on Hometown Radio AM 1230 WHIR and again at 10:00 a.m. on FM 98.7 WKDO.

DOOR TO DOOR VISITATION

We still believe in visiting homes in our area to minister the word of God to the residents in the local community. House to house visitation is a great way to meet new people and witness for the Lord Jesus Christ.

PRISON & COUNTY JAIL SERVICES

We believe in ministering to those incarcerated. Currently, we hold services twice a month at Northpoint Training Center and one service a month at the Boyle County Detention Center.

FAITH PROMISE MISSIONS GIVING PROGRAM

Each November, we hold our annual faith promise missions conference. This meeting encourages individuals and families to pray and ask the Lord for guidance on what He would have them to give to the cause of world missions for the coming year. Every dollar that is given to the cause of missions goes directly to support our missionaries and their efforts around the world.

WEEKLY PUBLIC MINISTRY

Each Saturday and Sunday we can be found proclaiming the gospel publicly in downtown Danville and neighboring Harrodsburg, KY. Our street ministry involves preaching, tract distribution, banners, and sandwich signs which reminds our community that there is a God in heaven who sent His only begotten Son to die for their sins.

Nursing Home Circuit

We hold church services in different assisted living homes in our area each Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Currently, we minister at Morning Pointe, the Willows at Harrodsburg, and Landmark of Danville.
